This past week I reached a huge milestone for my health. Honestly, it is one I was not sure I would ever reach. So what was it?
January 2024 was the first month in 2+ years that I was not exposed to gluten. This may or may not seem like a big deal but for me, getting exposed to gluten and getting sick had just become part of my normal routine - and it sucked.
So how did I hit this milestone? I was reflecting on this with my husband this week. We came up with a few ideas of what could have helped, and I want to share them with you.
- I think I have become more clear with ordering when out to eat
- I cook a lot at home
- I rely on the foods & restaurants that I trust
- Sometimes I cook my own food when we are at someone’s house
- I pack snacks
- I vet places before I go to them & I have no problem saying no if I do not feel comfortable
I share this all with you because this is all hard. These are things that have taken me 5+ years to figure out. So if you are struggling with or just starting your gluten free / celiac / food allergy / intolerance journey please know you are not alone. It is a process and it is a hard one.
Please reach out with any questions you may have.
